Whitewright Mayor Bill Goodson, husband of Pastor Narda Goodson, is Prejudice! His reason for not allowing us “Fat Daddy’s Sound Shack” to open in Whitewright, is he is prejudice. He will not allow the youth of the Texoma area go to a rock show in his town, or let them out after 11:00 P.M. even though the curfew law allows teens above the age of 16 to be out on Friday or Saturday night until 1:01 A.M. This is called “AGEISM”.
One day after we were already approved by the City of Whitewright’s Planning and Zoning to open business in the City of Whitewright, Mayor Bill Goodson called us. He told us on the phone that he will not allow us to open in his town. He is the one that makes the decision. He stated that the code we MUST follow is the exact same code that the movie theater has to follow. When we informed him that the City of Whitewright does not have a code for an indoor movie theatre, therefore we are complying to the City of Whitewright’s code, he said, that’s it. I am not going to argue. I will not allow Fat Daddy’s Sound Shack to open in my town and I am the only one who makes that decision.
He also made the statement that curfew is 11:00 P.M. When we informed him of his own curfew law that allows teens above the age of 16 to be out on Friday and Saturday nights until 1:01 A.M. he said that he did not believe that. We told him the information is on the printed code that Mona from the City of Whitewright gave us. He said he still did not believe it. What? The Mayor of Whitewright for 20 years does not know his OWN curfew laws and building codes?
It all boils down to he simply does not want a Christian based “All Ages” music venue in his town. The Whitewright Police Department gave proof of this when they posted a slanderous comment on OUR website.
This is the statement that proves that Mayor Bill Goodson and the Whitewright Police Department are prejudice:
“the city will not tolerate the drug, alcohol abuse, and the criminal element that follow these type of venues.”
Click here for the complete statement posted on our website by the Whitewright Police Department speaking for Mayor Bill Goodson and the City of Whitewright.
He also told us that the City of Whitewright is a dry town. And does not allow consumption of alcohol in commercial businesses. Well, what about the bar in Whitewright (Dusty Saddle)? Is that not a commercial business that allows consumption of alcohol?
All of this proves that the City of Whitewright, Mayor Bill Goodson, husband of Pastor Narda Goodson and the City of Whitewright Police Department are prejudice.
Definition of “Ageism” is below.
Ageism refers to the stereotyping of and discrimination against individuals or groups because of their age. It is a set of beliefs, attitudes, norms, and values used to justify age based prejudice and discrimination.
Modern-day America is a bad place to be young. We have an increasing multitude of insulting age-laws confining youth to second-class citizenship. We also have courts enforcing a double-standard of justice. In the Summer of 1998, for example, the Supreme Court ruled that if an employee is sexually harassed by a co-worker or manager, the employer is legally responsible even if the employer didn’t know about it — that same week, the Supreme Court ruled that if a student is sexually harassed by a teacher, the school is not responsible unless the victim can prove school authorities knew about it and took no action.
But more than that, ageism is ingrained in our culture, influencing the minds of nearly everyone, and causing youth to face hostility and unfairness at every turn.
Definition of “Prejudice” is below.
Prejudice, unsubstantiated prejudgment of an individual or group, favorable or unfavorable in character, tending to action in a consonant direction. The hostility that prejudice can engender and the discrimination to which it may lead on the part of a dominant population toward an ethnic group, gender, religious or linguistic minority have caused great human suffering throughout history. Some researchers attribute prejudice to deep-rooted “fear of the stranger,” while others cite religious or nationalist chauvinism, and fear of economic competition.
Most, however, agree that prejudice is learned and can be reduced when members of different communities work together toward the realization of a common goal or when groups intermarry. Since prejudice and discrimination each contribute to the origin and growth of the other, prejudice can be reduced by removing discrimination, and a change in discriminatory institutions usually leads to a change in attitudes.
